GENERA: Gender Equality in Physics and beyond

Acronym:
GENERA
Description:

The main objective of the GENERA CoP: Gender Equality in Physics and beyond is joining forces for institutional change towards gender equality with a field-specific approach in STEM. The GENERA CoP is embedded within the GENERA network striving for a collaboration on institutional change towards gender equality. Its members will decide jointly on which challenge, need or issue they will focus on and develop results (events, workshop design, reports, guidelines, policy briefs e.g.) in a collaborative manner.

The network consists out of research performing organizations, research funding organizations, higher education institutions, associations and consortia worldwide as well as internationally established physics projects. The individual members are trained physicists and social scientists working as researcher, gender equality practitioners and experts, HR officers and managing directors in organizational change processes.

Action plan:

ACT will support the GENERA CoP with some resources for the coordination. The facilitator is organizing communication structures like online and offline meetings, setting up the agenda and providing targeted support for the GENERA CoP activities for or a period of 2 years. It is expected that the GENERA Network continues after the ACT project runs out in April 2021.

The draft agenda for 2019 has been set up after the 1th ACT Synergy Conference in February 2019. It is planned to have a monthly online meeting to share good practices, latest research and experiences among the members. Working Groups shall be established on specific activities like the GENERA Data Collection on sex-aggregated data in the involved institutions. The first annual face to face meeting will take place in Germany in autumn 2019.
